Open Access Borrower Program -- Library Privileges

The SUNY Open Access Borrower Program allows SUNY students, faculty, and staff with a valid SUNY ID to use the facilities and collections of all other SUNY libraries. This includes the ability to borrow books and other materials which normally circulate.

How does it work?

If you are a student who desires "between semesters" borrowing privileges at a SUNY library other than on your "home" SUNY campus, you must provide evidence of pre-enrollment for the next semester.

A Courtesy Borrower / Library Research Station Access Card is needed for borrowing privileges. If eligibility requirements are met, the card can be obtained at any University Libraries' Circulation Desk.

What services does it provide?

Open Access Borrower Program participants are entitled to the same use of the collection as the library offers its own community.

Guest users of the Libraries may print from the library research stations at the cost of 10 cents per page. Printing requires the use of a Print/Copy Debit Card. The document iprint@ub has full instructions.

What are the borrowing policies?

For UB students, faculty and staff going to another library:

  • Open Access Borrower Program participants are entitled to the same use of the collection as the library offers its own community. Books may be borrowed subject to the restrictions of the host library.

For Open Access Borrower Program participants from other SUNY institutions visiting UB:

  • Loan period is 4 weeks
  • Renew online on or before due date. Use My Library Card
  • Up to 25 items can be checked out at one time
  • Overdue fines: 50 cents per day, per item
