The Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection at the Health Sciences Library was established as a separate entity in 1972. It includes more than 12,000 monographs from the nineteenth century with particular strengths in surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, dentistry, pharmacology, and oncology, as well as historical journal volumes.
The HSL Multimedia Center provides faculty and student support for our video collection, both physical and online streaming. Our center is also equipped with multimedia editing software and scanners to help you with your projects and assignments.

Current University at Buffalo students, faculty and staff may recommend materials for purchase, or may request an Interlibrary Loan for books (including conference proceedings, theses, and audiovisual materials), or journal articles.
The HSL Virtual Reference Shelf is a collection of online reference e-books, databases and websites. Some are freely available (marked PUBLIC) and others are UB Only resources.
