In addition to difficulties with language, housing and employment, the person may also have difficulty understanding and accessing rehabilitation services. Independent living staff often experience frustration that arises from miscommunication and differing cultural perspectives. This tutorial uses the Culture Brokering Model originally presented by Jezewski and Sotnik in "Culture Brokering" to train workers in Centers for Independent Living to provide the best services they can for disabled people from all cultures.
