VIII.A.6.b: Other Notebooks: Miscellaneous Zurich Notes: Business Letter (1916)

Material Description and Collation

The manuscript is only half a sheet of faintly ruled tan stationery, which is identical to MSS VIII.A.6.a and 6.c, the right edges of which are ragged, with writing in black ink on both sides and in lead pencil on the verso. Some of the text on the right edge of the page is missing. The manuscript is not in Joyce’s hand.

Measurements

The manuscript measures 26.8 x 10.5 cm.

Contents

The manuscript consists of a copy of an unsigned letter in Greek and French to the President of the National Bank of Greece in Athens. Joyce transcribed vocabulary from this letter on MS VIII.A.4, pp. [22], [26] and [28] and copied the text on the recto only on its p. [27].

Dating

The letter is dated 20 October 1916.
