Reference
& Information Services

Reference and Information Desks are located through the University at Buffalo Libraries. Walk-in reference service is provided. A professional librarian can be found at the reference desk throughout the day, and some evening and weekend hours. See the Reference Desk Hours for details. For details regarding reference services policies, see

  • Arts & Sciences Libraries - Reference & Information Services Policy Statement
  • Health Sciences Library - Reference & Information Services Policy Statement

The reference staff also provides service by telephone, e-mail, and online chat. For in-depth research it is possible to schedule appointments with one of our subject specialists. Subject specialists include all members of the reference team, as well as Subject Selectors from other parts of the libraries.
