Description
Social Explorer attempts to analyze visually U.S. demography through interactive maps and data reports.
Leads To:
1) Maps cover population, sex, race, income, family structure, marital status, group quarters, education, and housing for the indicated geographies.

| 2000 | Census tracts, zip code tabulation areas (ZCTAs), places (cities and villages), and block groups. |
| 1970-1990 | Census tracts. |
| 1940-1960 | Census tracts and counties. |
Additional specialized maps cover:
- New York City, 1910-2000 by race.
- Los Angeles, 1940-2000 by race.
- Queens, NY 1905-2000 by population density.
2) Statistical tables for the 2000 census covers the:

Data for the 1940-1990 censuses deal with the nation, states, counties, and census tracts.
Searching Tips:
1) Maps:
- On the home page, click on “Maps” along the top bar or “Interactive Data Maps Go to Maps” in the center of the page.
- Select “Census: Maps & Reports United States 1940 ? 2000.”
- Zoom into the part of the nation you are attempting to map, or type the name of a place or an address in the find box.
- Choose from among the 3 options on the right hand side bar to develop thematic maps.
- Click the “report” icon and follow instructions to create statistical reports.
2) Statistical Tables:
- Click on “Reports” along the top bar of the home page.
- Select the appropriate census.
- Select the relevant geography and click “Next.”
- Select the relevant subject and click “Show Result.”
