Open Access TOXMAP

Description

TOXMAP is a GIS-based mapping interface to the EPA's Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) database. TRI is an annually compiled series of databases that contains information on the yearly estimated releases of toxic chemicals to the environment down to the individual facility (point source) level. With TOXMAP, users can create nationwide or local area maps that show where chemicals are released into the air, water, and ground.

Maps can show facilities, color-coded releases for a single year, and chemical release trends over time. TOXMAP provides links to chemical and region-specific bibliographic information in two other National Library of Medicine databases, Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) and TOXLINE.

Leads to visual maps of toxic substances releases to the environment or to waste sites from specific industrial facilities.
