Special Collections Research Room, 420 Capen Hall Buffalo native Spain Rodriguez is a pioneering underground comix giant, known for his explicit and politically explosive art. Best known for his anarchistic comic character, Trashman, a superhero of the working classes, his work portrays a dystopian future America. The exhibit features extensive original artwork loaned by the artist, photographs of the Road Vultures motorcycle gang in 1960s Buffalo, and a retrospective of his underground comix. The exhibit and its opening program on Friday, October 23 at 4:00PM is open to all. |

Law Library The Law Library is currently displaying an exhibit In Memoriam of Virginia A. Leary, SUNY Distinguished Professor of Law, “scholar, teacher, activist, and cherished friend.” The exhibit is located in the cases near the main entrance of the Law Library, on the second floor of O’Brian Hall. Materials on display include Professor Leary’s biography and bibliography and tributes to her life and many accomplishments. |

Lockwood Library The Goldsman Collection of Literature for Boys includes dime novels and series books published in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A gift to the UB Libraries from Buffalo artist Beverly Goldsman in 1989, the collection includes original volumes from the Nick Carter, Tom Swift and Hardy Boys series along with such popular adventure story publications as Tip Top Weekly, Pluck and Luck, and Wild West Weekly. The exhibit also features vintage toys provided by Libraries' staff. |

Capen Libraries The exhibit highlights the rapid introduction and obsolescence of audio, A/V, visual image, and computer storage media. The role of libraries and archives in preserving and migrating content in old formats is also addressed. See an antique stereoscope, an Eve of Destruction 45 rpm record, eight-track tapes, punch cards, 110 film and cameras, an original Visicalc 8” floppy, and more. How long will Blu-Ray last? Music Library Baird Hall, 1st Floor "Treasures from the Collection of Florian Bruyas" October 5, 2009-January 15, 2010 This exhibit, curated by Lina Terjesen, showcases volumes from the library’s collection of opera scores collected by Florian Bruyas, French Senator, Director of the Lyon Conservatory, and author of Histoire de l’Operette en France (1855-1965), now considered a seminal volume in the study of French opera. Bruyas annotated the scores with information about performances of the works, including names and information about cast members. Many of the scores contain newspaper and magazine clippings or illustrations of stage designs for the operas. |
