| Secretary
of State John M. Hay used these words to begin his
Flag Day address at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo on
June 14, 1901. The Exposition was indeed an event of great impact
on the city of Buffalo and the nation. Today, with the historical
perspective of a century passed, the Pan-American Exposition provides
fertile ground for examination of several subject areas, including
sociology, politics, music, law, racial stereotypes, the visual arts,
technology, and many more. The exhibit contained on these pages has
been created by the University at Buffalo Libraries to commemorate
the grand events that took place in Buffalo in 1901. |
