UB Card (Library Card)

The UB Card is also your Library Card. Students, faculty, and staff must have a current UB Card to receive borrowing services from any UB library. Your Library Number is located at the bottom of your UB Card. It is 14 digits long and starts with 29072.

Your UB Card is non-transferable. In order for the Libraries to contact you, report changes of address to the UB Office of Records and Registration or the Payroll Office. Lost or stolen UB Cards must be reported as soon as possible.

There is now an optional UB Card made just for Online Students. To apply for an Online Program Official UB Card, please fill out this application. This card will not provide borrowing privileges at the UB Libraries.

NOTE: Cards reported lost will be deactivated; library borrowing will be unavailable.

To report a lost or stolen UB Card

  • call 716-645-6344 (after hours 1-800-567-8821)
  • go to one of the UB Card Offices (listed below)
  • deactivate your card from the UB Card Offices website.

To obtain a replacement card, you must go to one of the UB Card Offices:

  • North Campus
    228 Student Union
  • South Campus
    104 Harriman Hall

Library records associated with the UB Card are protected by the New York State Law, Civil Practice and Rules, Section 4509 Confidentiality of Library Records.

If you are not a current member of the UB community, please refer to the Guests and Visitors cards web page for information.
