Libraries & Collections

The Libraries own more than 3.6 million volumes as well as media, and special collections. Cybraries, located in the Libraries, provide access to more than 500 computer workstations. The Libraries subscribe to 350 research databases and more than 10,000 electronic journals. Many are unavailable elsewhere in Western New York.

    Architecture & Planning Library
 
The Architecture & Planning Library is part of the Arts & Sciences Libraries, and both serve as components of the University at Buffalo Libraries. The Architecture & Planning Library (APL) is located on the first floor of Hayes Hall in the School of Architecture and Planning on the South Campus of the State University of New York at Buffalo.
 


   Digital Collections
 
The misson of Digital Collections is to pursue the digital library in all forms, to meet the requirements of the author, reader, researcher, instructor and student, and to seek out the best practices, tools and methods for development, management and persistence of the digital library.
 


    Health Sciences Library
 
The Health Sciences Library (HSL) provides services to meet the information needs of the instructional, research and clinical programs in the Schools of Dental Medicine, Public Health and Health Professions, Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, and Pharmacy.


    Law Library
 
The Law Library occupies six floors in the center of the Law School. Our services and research collections are carefully tailored to meet the research instruction needs of UB Law's students. Our beautiful facility, often referred to as "the heart of the Law School ," provides a comfortable, modern setting that is very conducive to the study of law.


    Libraries Annex
 
The Libraries Annex, approximately 16,000 square feet in size is specially constructed to house up to 1.5 million volumes of low-use materials. The Annex is located close to both UB campuses, on Rensch Road across Sweet Home Road from UB's North Campus.


    Lockwood Memorial Library
 
The Lockwood Memorial Library is on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo. Lockwood is part of the Arts & Sciences Libraries and is open to everyone in the UB community and to the general public. There is also a Cybrary site in Lockwood for computer access.     Multimedia Collections
 
Multimedia Collections and Services encompasses two physical locations: the Silverman Library Multimedia Center on the 2nd Floor of the Silverman Library, Capen Hall, North Campus; and the Health Sciences Library Multimedia Center located on the lower level of Abbott Hall, South Campus.

    Music Library
 
The Music Library is located in Baird Hall on the North Campus. The Music Library's primary mission is to support the instructional and research needs of the UB Music Department. It also provides support to disciplines which intersect with music--dance, anthropology, American studies, theatre, and information and library studies--and serves the music information needs of Western New York's arts community.


    Silverman Library
 

The Oscar A. Silverman Library is located in Capen Hall on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo (see online map). It is part of the Arts & Sciences Libraries and is open to everyone in the UB community and to the general public and features a variety of research, reading, and study spaces for undergraduates and graduate students.
