Therapy Dog and StudentsAnimal Assisted Therapy

Reference Desk area, first floor, HSL

The use of pets in therapy is known as animal-facilitated therapy, which is an umbrella term that covers animal-assisted activities (AAA) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT). Animal therapy has been used to assist patients' emotional, psychological, and physical well-being during the course of treatment and/or long term care. Animal therapy uses animals, mainly dogs, to aid in healing patients holistically. Animal-facilitated therapy methods have been subjected to quantitative and qualitative research and its effectiveness on patients' outcomes and healing is documented. Even so, it remains a controversial topic in health care. The purpose of the display is provide facts regarding the history of (AAT) and how it is being used today to help improve the lives of patients.
