Black history month exhibit in Lockwood Memorial Library

Since 1976, February has been recognized as Black History Month in the United States. During his time as president, Gerald Ford called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

This annual celebration acknowledges the important role African-Americans have played in American history.

In honor of Black History Month, the University Libraries present an assortment of fiction and non-fiction titles in the lobby of Lockwood Library celebrating the achievements and significant impact African-Americans have had on our country and culture.
