*VI.I.17: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Emendations and Errata: Scribal Copy of an Emendation for the Duplicate (Missing) Copy of the Typescript for This Quarter I.1/Finnegans Wake I.7 (1925):
Material Description and Collation: The manuscript is a black-lined graph paper card. The manuscript is all in Beach's hand in lead pencil.
Measurements: The manuscript measures 11.8 x 7.9 cm.
Contents: The manuscript is an extradraft sheet that probably contains Beach's note in lead pencil of Joyce's instructions to make a corresponding emendation on her copy of the typescript for the printer of This Quarter. See This Quarter 121.09–10 as well as FW 190.29–30.
JJA Draft Code: JJA I.7§1.5'+.
Dating: Beach probably noted this emendation in July 1925.
Other Markings: Beach also wrote "Morley's Lge SW" on the recto above the instructions in lead pencil, possibly before the emendation was noted below. There is a notation on the verso that reads "H. Hauser | Ouviers du temps passé" in an unidentified hand (possible Myrsine Moschos's) in blue ink.
Notes: The emendation was also made on the extant typescript (BL 47474, f. 55; JJA 47.466) in Joyce's hand and was incorporated in the published text of This Quarter (the proofs of which are missing).
