*VI.I.32: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Emendations and Errata: Emendations for a (Missing) Duplicate Copy of the Second Typescript of Book III/Finnegans Wake III.1–4 (1926):
Material Description and Collation: The manuscript is a loose sheet of rolled paper, torn on the left edge, with a circular watermark of an interwoven "M" and "C" and below it: "ME[TROPOLIT]AIN NOTE PAPER". This is the same kind of paper with watermark as MS VI.I.33, which is Maison Billet stationery. The emendations are on the verso; the recto is blank. The main list of emendations is in Joyce's hand in black ink, but there is an additional emendation listed in Beach's hand, also in black ink.
Measurements: The manuscript measures 13.5 x 21.0 cm.
Contents: The manuscript is an extradraft sheet that instructs Beach to emend a missing copy of the second typescript. See FW 404.28, 406.01, 406.04, 406.07–08, 406.10, 406.21, 406.22, 406.28, 407.04–05, 465.26, 473.13, 475.04, 489.10, 523.01 and 555.12.
JJA Draft Code: III§1A.7+/1D.7+//2A.7+/2B.5+/2C.7+//3A.6+/3B.6+//4.3+.
Dating: The manuscript was probably written in early June 1926.
Notes: Joyce made all of the emendations on the extant pages of a copy of the second Book III typescript (see BL MSS 47483, fs. 56, 62, 166, 168, and 176 and 47484a, f. 150; JJA 57.254, 260, 266, 168, and 276 and JA 58.271); no copy of the second typescript of III.4 is known to be extant. Joyce had noted the emendation that appears here in black ink on Buffalo Finnegans Wake notebook MS VI.B.12.004 and must have instructed Beach to add it here.
