*VI.J.5: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Miscellaneous Manuscripts: Miscellaneous Note on a Newspaper(1928):
Material Description and Collation: The manuscript consists of pp. 1–12 of The New York Herald, Monday, Paris, 9 April 1928. Above an article titled "[John] M'CORMACK HURRIES HOME TO GREET [henry] FORD" on p. 7 that is marked with four Xs in lead pencil in the corners, Joyce wrote a formula presumably related to what became Finnegans Wake Book III in the upper margin in lead pencil.
Measurements: The manuscript measures 43.5 x 57.5 cm.
Dating: Joyce wrote this manuscript on or about 9 April 1928.
Other Markings: Beach wrote beside Joyce note in lead pencil: "paper | on which JJ | scribbled | these calculations".
