A collaboration between the University Libraries, the University Art Galleries and the School of Architecture and Planning, Discovering James Joyce: The University at Buffalo Collection presents rarely seen items from the James Joyce Collection. Covering the span of his entire artistic life, the Joyce archive in the Poetry Collection is the largest and most distinguished in the world. Discovering James Joyce features a substantial selection of the writer’s notebooks, manuscripts, letters, publications, photographs, family portraits, and other significant Joyceana.

Eire on the Erie: North American James Joyce Conference


June 17: 6pm to 8pm

Docent/Teacher Training session given by UB Poetry Collection Curator Mike Basinski. Certificate of Attendance provided for teachers (training content supports NYS Learning Standards)


June 18: 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Just Buffalo Literary Center member event; exhibition tour given by UB Poetry Collection Curator Mike Basinski. JBLC Teaching Artist Sherry Robbins will provide a writing/art activity for guests


June 24: 6pm to 8pm

Docent/Teacher Training session given by UB Poetry Collection Curator Mike Basinski. Certificate of Attendance provided for teachers (training content supports NYS Learning Standards)


June 27: 11am to 8pm

Gallery hours extended in conjunction with the Buffalo Niagara “Citybration” event


June 30 - August 22

Docent-led tours available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 1pm; private tours are available June 14 - September 13, upon request

July 16: 7pm to 8:30pm

“Dashing and Compounding: James Joyce and Punctuation.” Speaker: Elizabeth Bonapfel, UB Humanities Institute 2009-2010 James Joyce Library Fellow


July 23: 6pm to 9pm

“Paint, Prose, and Poetry” adult workshop. Instructor: Pamela Plummer. Certificates of Attendance available for teachers (workshop content supports NYS Learning Standards)


July 26: 1pm to 4pm

ArtFun Sundays Series, “Paint, Prose, and Poetry” art activities session for families and children. Instructor: Pamela Plummer


August 13: 6pm to 9pm
