Location

Special Collections is located on the 4th floor of Capen Hall inside the Capen Libraries.  From the ground floor of Capen Hall, take the stairs or elevator to the first floor, enter the Libraries, and take the inside elevator to the 4th floor.

Parking

Visitor paid parking is available in the Fronczak Lot for a charge of $4.00 ($2.00 after 1:00pm). There are also two hour parking meters in Jacobs Lot A, Hochstetter B, and the Ketter Lot. Directions from the parking lots to Special Collections:

Cooke/Hochstetter lots metered parking

  1. Park as far to the right in the Cooke Hochstetter lots as possible. If you pull into the metered parking spots, you will be facing Cooke/Hochstetter Hall. Facing this direction, look to your right and you will see three flagpoles.
  2. Walk down the sidewalk toward the flagpoles, passing a bus stop. From here you should see Founders Plaza. This plaza is bordered on one side by a row of cylindrical concrete barriers. Also located along the border is a map of the University, should it be needed.
  3. Enter Founders Plaza. The building on the left side of Founders Plaza is Capen Hall. Walk under the overhang and enter through the doorway to the left.
  4. Once inside Capen Hall, walk to your left and enter the Libraries.
  5. Walk to the right and you will see a bank of elevators. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. There, you will see two blue doors.
  6. Walk through the blue doors and down a short hallway lined with portraits, and into the Special Collections Research Room.

Jacobs lots metered parking

  1. Park as far to the left in the Jacobs lots as possible. If you pull into the metered parking spots, you will be facing Jacobs Hall. Walk up the sidewalk on the left end of the lot and you will see three flagpoles.
  2. Continue down the sidewalk toward the flagpoles and you will see Founders Plaza. This plaza is bordered by a row of cylindrical concrete barriers. Also located at the border of Founders Plaza is a map of the University, should it be needed.
  3. Enter Founders Plaza. The building on the left side of Founders Plaza is Capen Hall. Walk under the overhang and enter through the doorway to the left.
  4. Once inside Capen Hall, walk to your left and enter the Libraries.
  5. Walk to the right and you will see a bank of elevators. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. There, you will see two blue doors.
  6. Walk through the blue doors and down a short hallway lined with portraits, and into the Special Collections Research Room.

Fronczak visitor's lot

  1. Try to park as far to the left of the lot as possible.
  2. Across from the lot you should see two large buildings. The larger one to the left is Capen Hall.
  3. Upon entering Capen Hall you will be on the ground level. Take either the stairs or elevator to the first floor. Once there, walk to the right and enter the Libraries.
  4. Walk to the right and you will see a bank of elevators. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. There, you will see two blue doors.
  5. Walk through the blue doors and down a short hallway lined with portraits, and into the Special Collections Research Room.
