Lewis Mandell

Lewis Mandell became the dean of the School of Management in 1998 after holding the same post at Marquette University in Milwaukee.  During his tenure as dean, the School of Management became nationally recognized, placing 85 in the U.S. News and World Report graduate business school rankings.  Mandell increased donations to the school and spearheaded initiatives to improve its teaching facilities. 

From 2001 until his retirement in 2008, Mandell focused on teaching and research.  A mentor to many of his students, Mandell received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.  His research interests included financial literacy among teens and young adults in America.  He wrote more than twenty books on consumer finance. 

Lewis Mandell died on May 6, 2019 in Austin, Texas at the age of 76.
