The Fall 2018 Mitchell Lecture, “Tempered Power, Variegated Capitalism, Law and Society,” will be held on Friday, November 9, at 2 p.m., in the Charles B. Sears Law Library, located in O’Brian Hall, University at Buffalo (North Campus). This event is free and open to the public, reception to follow.
Our lecture will be delivered by John Braithwaite, distinguished professor at Australian National University. Braithwaite’s guiding question is how to effectively temper power in a world of variegated capitalisms, such as “industrial capitalism, service economy capitalism, Silicon Valley, Wall Street financial capitalism, security state capitalism, sitting side by side inside one set of borders.” Braithwaite plans to draw mostly on labor law examples in his talk.
