COVID-19: delivery services FAQs

This page contains information related to library delivery services during the current COVID-19 situation and our shift to remote learning.

What online library services are available?

How can I return my material(s)?

Currently, all library materials will be automatically renewed, including Interlibrary Loan items. No materials will accrue fines or be billed as lost. There is no need to return materials at this time.

If you must return books or other library materials, you can:

  • Return them to any library drop box located outside of Abbott, Lockwood or the Music Library.
  • Drop off materials at any SUNY Library. These items will be returned to UB Libraries on your behalf.
  • Mail to: University at Buffalo Delivery Services, 235 Lockwood Memorial Library, Buffalo, NY 14260.
  • NOTE: If you choose to return library materials, there may be significant delays in removing these items from your UB Libraries account.

I can’t return my book, will I be fined?

No! There is no need to return materials. We are automatically renewing materials and suspending library fines until further notice.

If you have questions or are experiencing a problem with your library account regarding fines, fees, or renewals, please email libdelivery@buffalo.edu.

I need a book, how do I get it?

We are unable to supply physical items or allow access to our physical collections at this time.

UB has access to many ebooks via our databases such as eBook Collection and ProQuest Ebook Central. Please see our Access to Library Resources & Services for more information on accessing materials electronically.

If you are unable to utilize the above resources, we are happy to investigate purchasing or borrowing an ebook. Please submit your request via Delivery+.

Additionally, you may request book chapter(s) compliant with Title 17, Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act. This will be delivered electronically.

What is the status of previously submitted Delivery+ requests?

We are unable to process requests for physical books or other physical materials. We will contact if you previously submitted a request for physical material(s).

Articles and book chapter(s) compliant with Title 17, Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act will continue to be processed and delivered electronically.

Can I come to the library to print?

As of March 23, 2020, limited, self-service student printing will only be available in Silverman Library.

What about Course Reserve materials?

The Libraries may be able to purchase ebooks or electronic copies of required course materials.

Please email libdelivery@buffalo.edu directly if you are a Faculty or Staff member and would like the University Libraries to explore electronic access options for required course materials.

What about A/V materials?

If you need access to A/V (Audio Visual) materials, please contact Michael Kankiewicz, Head of Multimedia Collections, to determine if the material is available via streaming.
