The University Libraries will unveil two new flexible studio spaces on the second floor of Silverman Library to enhance collaboration and innovation at UB. The larger studio, designed to accommodate up to 20 individuals, will feature large interactive screens, whiteboards and a mobile teaching podium. The adaptable space can be utilized for hybrid meetings or presentations with remote participants, or reconfigured for specialized equipment use such as VR, robotics or multimedia programs to meet emerging instructional and research requirements.
The smaller studio, with seating for 12, will support media production, data visualization and analysis. It will include five high-powered laptops and a large-screen monitor. Both spaces will feature movable furniture that can be arranged to support various teaching and learning configurations. These open, dynamic environments will enable faculty, staff and librarians to experiment with innovative teaching methods and tools.
The new spaces will be open to all UB faculty and staff, with priority given to library partners and staff, and are intended to foster collaborative, creative and interdisciplinary experimentation.
