About

The Oscar A. Silverman Library is located in Capen Hall on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo (see online map). It is part of the Arts & Sciences Libraries and is open to everyone in the UB community and the general public. The library features a variety of research, reading, and study spaces for undergraduates and graduate students. Check our schedule of hours to see when the library is open.

Silverman Library is home to a number of major units within the University Libraries:

  • The university’s research and teaching library in the Sciences and Engineering on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, with staff and collections primarily serving the College of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.

  • The Map Collection, located on the 3rd floor, serving the entire university community.

  • The Multimedia Center, a multidisciplinary resource and service center on the 2nd floor for audio-visual materials covering all areas of study across the disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, fine and applied arts, sciences, and technology.

Silverman Library also houses other valuable resources and staff-supported services to the benefit of our university community:

  • Cybrary sites located on the 1st and 3rd floors of the library for computer access which are managed by UBIT.
  • Teaching & Learning Center - 212 Capen Hall
