Architecture & Planning at Abbott Library

Architecture & Planning is located on the third floor of Abbott Hall on UB’s South Campus. Our collections and services support the university’s School of Architecture and Planning, focusing on the fields of architecture, design, urban and regional planning, historic preservation, landscape architecture, zoning, and urban and environmental studies.

Health Sciences at Abbott Library

Health Sciences is located in Abbott Library on the South Campus. Health Sciences's collections, librarians, and services support the information, instruction, and research needs of students, faculty, and staff in UB’s health sciences schools.

The Poetry Collection

A University at Buffalo Libraries Special Collection, the Poetry Collection is located in 420 Capen Hall. In running copy, “The Poetry Collection” should appear as "the Poetry Collection".

For institutions outside of UB, "The Poetry Collection" should be referred to as "The Poetry Collection of the University Libraries, State University of New York at Buffalo".

University Archives

A University at Buffalo Libraries Special Collection, University Archives is located in 420 Capen Hall.

For institutions outside of UB, "University Archives" should be referred to as "University Archives of the University Libraries, State University of New York at Buffalo".

Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection

A University at Buffalo Libraries Special Collection, the Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection is located in Abbott Hall on the South Campus. In running copy, the “Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection” should always be used in the first reference. In all subsequent references, “History of Medicine” is appropriate.

For institutions outside of UB, the "Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection" should be referred to as "Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection of the University Libraries, State University of New York at Buffalo".

Rare Books Collection

A University at Buffalo Libraries Special Collection, the Rare Books Collection is located in 420 Capen Hall. In running copy, “The Rare Books Collection” should appear as "the Rare Books Collection".

For institutions outside of UB, "The Rare Books Collection" should be referred to as "The Rare Books Collection of the University Libraries, State University of New York at Buffalo".

The Polish Room

The Polish Room, is located on the 2nd floor of Abbott Library, on the South Campus of the University at Buffalo.

The Map Collection

The Map Collection at the University at Buffalo is the largest in Western New York. It contains over 450,000 maps, 6,000 aerial photos, and more than 500 atlases covering all regions of the world, with emphasis on Buffalo and Erie County, New York State, the United States, Canada, and the University at Buffalo campuses.

Digital Collections

UB librarians have digitized thousands of historical photographs, print materials, audio and video recordings, artworks, and other unique materials. Our digital collections support teaching and learning activities, enrich scholarship and research, and provide access to rare or fragile items that may be too delicate to be handled regularly by the public.

Science & Engineering Information Center

The Science & Engineering Information Center is located in Lockwood Memorial Library on the North Campus. In running copy, "Science & Engineering Information Center" should always be used in the first reference. In all subsequent references, "SEIC" is appropriate.
