The Abbott Library will discontinue our BioMed Central (BMC) Supporter Membership as of September 30, 2018. This membership gives UB authors a 15% discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs).
The BMC Supporter Membership subscription cost for the past year was $9,360. The membership renews on September 30th and the cost would be $9,735. The amount of money saved by UB authors has not come close to our membership cost, and with the need to cancel journal subscriptions to keep within our budget, this is a logical savings.
