Stop by the lobby to view “Care and Custody: Past Responses to Mental Health”, a 6 poster panel exhibit on display through March 31st. This exhibit marks the return of travelling exhibits from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) suspended during the pandemic.
This exhibit explores the tension between care and custody, and examines how society has moved away from custodial forms of treatment for people with mental health conditions toward breaking the cycle of incarceration.

The Earlswood Asylum in Redhill, England was the first institution for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Britain. Administrators often imposed strict work regimes on individuals there in the belief that it would make them into productive citizens in society and would benefit the asylum.
