Poster about Lead Paint Poisoning

This Lead is Killing Us:  a History of Citizens Fighting Lead Poisoning in Their Communities, explores the story of citizen action against the poisoning of their communities.

The story is told in 6 panels detailing the pervasiveness of lead in American life for over a century.  Mining, battery manufacturing, smelting , paint and enameling industries all included lead in their production processes endangering the health of families and polluting the air.

Visit This Lead is Killing Us online exhibit for more information and links to education resources.

The exhibit panels will be on display on the first floor of Abbott Library through April 28, 2024.
