Scott Peterson

Scott Peterson, our new Head of Research Data Services, started at the UB Libraries on Monday, May 12th. Scott comes to UB from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was the head of the Morrison Library and the Graduate Services Library. Scott’s background is in the Humanities, and his interest in digital scholarship led him to enroll in a Data Carpentry course to learn some basic coding skills. From there, he has become heavily invested in the Carpentries programs, first becoming a certified instructor, then training other instructors, and finally developing lesson plans and helping to design a curriculum for the Social Sciences. He was also a part of Berkeley’s Research Data Management Operations Team, supporting researchers in understanding and responding to data management and sharing requirements through consultations and instruction.

Scott will continue this work at UB, identifying, developing, and implementing services and resources to support researchers in managing their data throughout the research lifecycle. Scott will begin his new role by developing strong collaborative relationships with researchers, administrative offices, and across the libraries. Please join me in welcoming Scott to the UB Libraries!

A complete staff profile on Scott will be shared in mid-June.
