The UB Humanities Institute supports two programs offered by the Special Collections Libraries for visiting scholars and graduate students to use the UB Libraries’ outstanding special and distinctive collections.

The Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection has made the rare Matzinger Collection available online.

The new library exhibit, A Portal to the Past: The Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection, has rare and intriguing medical items.

A new exhibition in Abbott Library, Praxeda Fronczak: A Red-Cross Nurse in Poland (1919-1921), highlights the journey of Buffalo-based, Polish American Red Cross nurse Praxeda I. Fronczak.

A series of short curatorial talks presented in conjunction with the exhibition, “The Curative Effect: Richardson, Olmsted and The Kirkbride Plan."

Dr. Mages will begin his post on May 13, 2021 and will guide the History of Medicine Collection’s research services, collection strategies, and exhibition programs. 

The guide includes sections on people, places, and resources.
