The Poetry Collection's 2025 John Bishop Memorial Visiting Scholar was Dr. Jessica Marian.

Marian is a McKenzie postdoctoral research fellow in English at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Her interdisciplinary research investigates how institutions and infrastructures shape modern and contemporary knowledge production, with a specific focus on periodicals, the genre of the review essay, catalogues, and the modernist bookstore. Her work has appeared in Angelaki, New Literary History, Australian Humanities Review, and Australian Literary Studies. She was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles for the 2025 fall quarter. She is convenor of the Critical Research Association Melbourne (CRAM) and co-editor of Parrhesia: A Journal of Critical Philosophy.

We invite you to enjoy her talk, "James Joyce's Postcard Poems."
