We are thrilled to announce that Michelle Zafron, Coordinator of Reference and Education Services, and Jocelyn Swick-Jemison, Data Services Librarian (Health Sciences), are 2026 recipients of the Medical Library Association (MLA) President's Award.

They are being recognized as members of the Academic Librarians Caucus's Open Database to Support Promotion and Tenure Development Committee — a five-person team whose collaborative work has made a meaningful impact across the profession.

The committee developed an open database, available on the Open Science Framework, designed to help institutions identify external evaluators for tenure and promotion dossiers — a resource that is already saving colleagues significant time and effort.

As Liz Stellrecht, Head of Health Sciences Library Services, put it: "As someone who has benefitted from their work, I cannot say enough what an amazing time saver their database has been for finding external disinterested evaluators for tenure dossiers. This is outstanding work, and they are so deserving!"
