Plot Summary

A radio actress named Diana Regis works as a paid reader for wealthy Jason Bartsler, but she lands on Perry Mason's office doorstep with a black eye after she is accused of theft by the boss's stepson. The complex plot involves adoption and kidnapping, and Diana is charged with the shooting death of her look-alike roommate. Perry must deal with a confirmed skeptic, a spoiled brat, a confusion of identities, a murder, and the fate of a small boy.
