    About the Collection

The University at Buffalo has a long and colorful college sports history. In fact, 14 UB students formed the first football team in 1894. By 1896, they were a local force in Western New York football playing collegiate and club teams and finishing the season with an impressive 9-1-2 record. Today the team competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Football Bowl Subdivision and is a member of the Mid-American Conference.

With that unique history in mind, the UB Libraries are pleased to introduce the “UB Sports History Collection,” which focuses on the early years of UB sports.
