Herbarium-Botany Collection

This collection comprises 50 samples (folio 16.5 X 11.5 in.) of wild medicinal plants collected from 1911 to the 1980’s for the Herbarium College of Forestry at the University of Idaho. Samples are dried and mounted on thick leaves preserved in cloth folding cases and archival sleeves. Identification labels in the lower margins of samples include typed notes on collectors, elevation, and soil conditions of plant samples.  The medicinal plants were collected from various climates in Montana, Idaho, Utah, California, Oregon, and Washington State. The samples include Cythera Bulbosa (orchid), Purshia tridentate (Bitterbrush or Greasewood), and Balsamorphiza (balsam rooks genus of sunflowers) to name a few.
