Frederic J. Fleron Jr.

Frederic J. Fleron, Jr. began his career at the University at Buffalo in 1970 as an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and was promoted to full professor six years later.  A renowned scholar of the politics of the Soviet Union and Russia, Fleron wrote over a dozen books.  He was a consultant to many departments within the federal government including the CIA, White House and State Department.

During his time at UB, Fleron was acting chair of the Department of Political Science.  He also held a number of university-wide administrative posts, including Associate Vice Provost, that were involved with developing and directing undergraduate and graduate education at the university.  He retired from UB in 2003.
