David A. Gerber
Born: 1944David A. Gerber is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at the University at Buffalo. He was born in 1944 and earned his Pd.D. from Princeton University in 1971. Dr. Gerber’s research interests include American History writing in the mid-twentieth century and developmental disability.
Director Emeritus at the Center for Disability Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences, he also received the SUNY Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1991. His other affiliations include National History Advisory Committee, Statue of Liberty Museum Project, Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Foundation; Board of Trustees, Association for a Buffalo Presidential Center; Board of Directors, Museum of disAbility History, Amherst, New York; Board of Advisers, Buffalo Jewish Archives Project; Editorial Board, Journal Of American Ethnic History; Organization Of American Historians; American Historical Association; Immigration And Ethnic History Society;and Society for Disability Studies.
