Kerry S. Grant joined the University at Buffalo as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters in 1991.  In 1998 he led the merger of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics into the reconstituted College of Arts and Sciences.  During his tenure as dean, Grant worked to diversify the faculty and was responsible for increasing research support.  In 2001, he was named vice provost for academic affairs and dean of the Graduate School.  Throughout his tenure at UB, Grant was a professor of Music History in UB's Department of Music.

Kerry S. Grant received an A.A. from Orange Coast College (1966), a B.A. (1969) and M.F.A. (1972) from University of California, Irvine, and Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley (1977).  He held a number of teaching and administrative positions at universities throughout North America.  Immediately prior to coming to UB, Grant was the director of the School of Music and professor of music history at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
