Harry R. Jackson joined the University at Buffalo in October 1970 when he was appointed Assistant to the President. In 1980, he was named acting director of the Division of Public Affairs and director in 1981. Jackson moved to Washington D.C. in 1991 when he became director of federal relations, the university’s liaison with the federal government. Harry R. Jackson died on August 3, 2011 in Hickory, North Carolina.
