Rita Green Lipsitz

Rita Green Lipsitz worked at UB for 27 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Department of English.

Her service to the University included membership in several committees and organizations. She served on the Professional Staff Senate, the General Assembly of Undergraduate Curriculum, and the Professional Staff Senate Sub-committees on Title IX Compliance for the Faculty of Arts and Letters. Lipsitz also taught Division of Undergraduate Education freshman seminars in the 1980s. Her dedication to her department and the University earned her the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 1995.

Lipsitz has also been active in the Buffalo community as a Board Member of the YMCA, and as a Lecturer at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Since her retirement in 1997, Lipsitz has volunteered as a counselor for senior auditors.

Lipsitz went to high school in Buffalo before receiving her B.A. in History and Government from UB in 1946. Before coming to work at UB fulltime, Lipsitz worked as a high school history teacher in Buffalo and as an Intake Counselor for Camp Lakeland and Centerland.
