Beverly P. Bishop

An award-winning teacher, Beverly Bishop has taught at UB for over 50 years.

With a career of teaching and research spanning over 50 years, Bishop is the author of more than 150 scholarly articles and editor of four books. She has taught and mentored thousands of students during her tenure at UB.


Career Highlights

  • 1940 -- Received her bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from Syracuse University
  • 1944 -- Earned a master of science in psychology from the University of Rochester
  • 1958 -- Received a doctorate in Physiology from the University at Buffalo
  • 1970s -- Appointed as Chair of Membership Advisory Committee of the American Physiological Association. She and Helen Cecil were the first women to serve as Chair of an APS Standing Committee
  • 1975 -- Awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching
  • 1992 -- Named SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor
