Sprague, a Harvard graduate, was the university’s third Chancellor, holding that post from 1885 until 1895. When Eben Carleton Sprague was Chancellor, the School of Pharmacy was founded in 1886, the Buffalo Law School (later the School of Law) in 1887, and the School of Dentistry in 1892, joining the Medical School as the four schools of the university.
