Harry A. Sultz

Harry A. Sultz was born in Buffalo, New York on August 3, 1924. He graduated from the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences (1944) and School of Dentistry (1947). Three years later, Sultz was forced to close his dental practice when he began to lose his eyesight. After successful treatment restored his vision, he established a dental practice focused on serving the handicapped.
Sultz returned to medical school and earned his master's degree in public health from Columbia in 1962. That same year, he joined the faculty of the Department of Social and Preventative Medicine in UB's School of Medicine as a clinical professor. Sultz would be promoted to associate professor in 1968 and professor in 1971. Throughout his career at UB, he would hold a number of positions related to health policy, systems and services. From 1979-1986, Sultz served as the Dean of the School of Health Related Professions. In 1997, he established the Mini-Med School program for non-medical professionals and would act as its director until 2002.
