James Russell Webster

Born: 1803
Death: 1854

James Webster was born in England in 1803.  In 1824, he received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.  He was chair of anatomy and physiology at the Geneva Medical College before being appointed as professor of general and special anatomy at the newly founded University of Buffalo Medical School.  He resigned from UB in 1851.

When naming places on the North Campus, UB chose the founding faculty of the School of Medicine for the campus roads.  Webster Road, which winds from Millersport Highway, along Southlake Village, then between Alumni Arena and UB Stadium is named in honor of James Webster.
