Death: 2020

Rossman F. Giese, Jr. joined the faculty of the University at Buffalo's Department of Geological Sciences in 1966.  Over his 50-year teaching career at UB, his most popular course was about the solar system, a course which at its height would see nearly 400 students enrolled in one semester.  In March 2000, Giese and his wife Dr. Patricia Costanzo published a geological report that helped save the historic Commercial Slip on the Buffalo waterfront.
