Anthony R. Paterson

Anthony R. Paterson joined the University at Buffalo Department of Art in 1968.  Before coming to UB, Paterson studied at the La Grande Chaumiere in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the University of Gaudalajara in Mexico.  A sculptor who favored working in bronze, he founded the Casting and Welding Institute at UB in 1993.  Here, Paterson led the conservation and recasting of Charles Carey Rumsey's three panel bas relief of Greek athletes.  He also created original works that include bronze sculptures of UB Council chair Seymour H. Knox II, Charles Darwin and Gregory Jarvis.  He retired from UB in 2002.
