Irving Cheyette

Irving Cheyette was born in New York City on August 1, 1904.  He attended Columbia University where he received a B.S. (1929), M.A. (1930) and Ed.D. (1936).  Cheyette joined the faculty of the University at Buffalo's Department of Music where he where he developed a music education program in conjunction with UB's School of Education.  He wrote 33 books on the teaching of music and served as director of music education at UB until his retirement in 1972.
