Tenth Part of the Holograph Scribal Transcription of the "Circe" episode
Material Description and Collation
The manuscript consists of 18 sheets of blue-lined graph paper, with a red vertical line in the left margin, that were torn from a notebook, the right edges of which are ragged, writing appears on the rectos in black ink as well as on the verso of pp. [10]–[16] and [18] in pencil (the other versos are blank), in the hand of Cyprian Beach, with corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink on all of the pages. The sheets are similar to those in MS V.B.13.d.9.
Measurements
The sheets measure approximately 22.4 x 16.8 cm.
Pagination
The sheets were paginated "1"–"18" in the lower left margin in lead pencil.
Contents
The manuscript is a partial holograph transcription of the Rosenbach (faircopy) manuscript that is continued from MS V.B.13.d.9 and is continued on MS V.B.13.d.11. This transcription was used as the copy text for the typescripts of this section of "Circe" (Buffalo MSS V.B.13.e–h). The text on the pages is as follows:

The text on pp. [10v]–[16v] and [18v] has been crossed through with X s in lead pencil and some of the text on p. [10v] has been partially erased.

This manuscript has been reproduced in black and white photo-facsimile on JJA 14.361–378.
Notes
The text on the pp. [10v]–[16v] and [18v] is a copy of a small portion of the episode, starting on p. [16v] and ending on [p. 10v], and an intervening section of text is on p. [18v]. The sheets are creased in the upper left corner, where they were held together and they appear to have been folded in the center horizontally and vertically. There are traces of metal paper clips on p. [1].
