Joyce Catalog

The arrangement of the Joyce manuscripts is based on the scholarly work of Peter Spielberg and Luca Crispi (UCD James Joyce Research Centre, School of English, Drama and Film, University College Dublin). Much but not all of the manuscript material was first described in Spielberg’s James Joyce’s Manuscripts and Letters at the University of Buffalo: A Catalogue (1962). More recently, Luca Crispi has been actively revising, updating, and completing Spielberg’s catalog based upon additions to the collection, contemporary Joyce scholarship and his own research. This work was finished in August 2010, and the completed sections are linked below.

Acknowledgments

Longstanding support for this catalog was provided by the Constance W. Stafford Charitable Trust, administered by Connie and Walter Constantine. Connie Constantine’s part in this project is hereby greatly and graciously acknowledged. She has done a grand service for the world of Joyce scholarship and for the University at Buffalo Libraries. Additional support was provided by Ann Marie Plubell. The catalog would not exist without the focused attention and long-term commitment of Dr. Luca Crispi, who is to be commended. Over the course of his research he was assisted by a number of UB graduate students from the departments of English and Library Science: Josh Gordon, Alex Johnston, Erika Ledermann and Matt Chambers. Finally, this bibliography would not have been possible without the ongoing support of the UB Libraries administration and the entire staff of the Poetry Collection.
