V.B.13.e.3
Third Part of a Copy of the Typescript (with First Overlay) of the "Circe" (15) Episode
Material Description and Collation
The manuscript consists of 7 sheets of typing paper watermarked "LIVERPOOL BOND". All of the pages are double-spaced typewritten black ink bottom (carbon) copies; all the versos are blank. There are corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink on all of the pages.
Measurements
The sheets measure approximately 26.8 x 20.8 cm.
Pagination
The sheets were paginated "87", "87"–"93" (pp. [1] and [2] were both inadvertently numbered "87") in the lower left margin in lead pencil.
Contents
The manuscript is a typescript of the "Circe" episode, comprised of only bottom copies of what were presumably 4 complete typescripts: a top copy, of which only 1 page survives (MS V.B.13.f, p. [87]), and 3 bottom copies, of which 2 partial, other copies survive (Buffalo MSS V.B.13.g and 13.h). This part of the typescript was also prepared from the scribal version of the Rosenbach manuscript (faircopy) version of the episode (MS V.B.13.d.1). The typescript was revised by Joyce, who also made most of the emendations on the corresponding pages of the other copies of the typescript. It is continued from MS V.B.13.e.2 and is continued on MS V.B.13.e.4. The text on the pages is as follows:
