Ninth Part of the Holograph Scribal Transcription of the "Circe" episode


Material Description and Collation

The manuscript consists of 4 sheets of blue-lined graph paper, with a red vertical line in the left margin, that were torn from a notebook, the right edges of which are ragged, writing appears on the rectos only and the versos are blank, in the hand of Cyprian Beach in black ink, with corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink on all of the pages.


Measurements

The sheets measure approximately 22.4 x 17.0 cm.


Pagination

The sheets were paginated "12"–"15" in the lower left margin in lead pencil.


Contents

The manuscript is a partial holograph transcription of the Rosenbach (faircopy) manuscript that is continued from MS V.B.13.d.8 and is continued on MS V.B.13.d.10. This transcription was used as the copy text for the typescripts of this section of the "Circe" episode (Buffalo MSS V.B.13.e–h) The text on the pages is as follows:
